What's In a Name

Having won thirty film festival awards over the course of 2021-2022, What’s In A Name is the autobiographical short film about the life of Lady Zen. From their beginnings as an orphan in Brazil, to their triumph as a performing artist entertaining audiences internationally, the film artfully portrays the journey of loss, heartbreak, acceptance and belonging through the eyes of a queer, transmasculine individual.

Mothers of my voice

Mothers of My Voice is a solo theatrical show dedicated to telling the one-of-a-kind life story of the artist Lady Zen, and the influence of legendary maestras such as Aretha Franklin, Sade, Billie Holiday, and Tina Turner had on the young singer. Premiering during the 2023-2024 season, this show is currently seeking venues and promoters who want to bring this story to their community.

Hamlet

In collaboration with director Jon Tracy and Marin Shakespeare Company, Lady Zen co-created 3 compositions for the Summer 2023 production of Hamlet. Performing as the Clown King and the Gravedigger, this adaptation of Hamlet "aims to bring us closer to its original force by pulling it up through the centuries, right up to our current moment."
